Björk Launches Biophilia Website

15 May

The lead-up to Björk’s multimedia project Biophilia has advanced in the form of a trippy, cosmic-looking new website. The site is best viewed with the Google Chrome or Safari web browsers, and I’m not just telling you that: a visit to the site using Firefox results in a message that more or less tells you exactly just that.

When you do get the thing to work, you’re greeted with an astral pattern spelling out Björk’s name that shifts around as you move your mouse. Pretty cool! Also, there’s an audio clip at the bottom of the page that features Björk describing, in brief, the aims of Biophilia in relation to her last full-length, 2007’s Volta.

A press release says, “A multi-media project encompassing music, apps, internet, installations and live shows, Biophilia celebrates how sound works in nature, exploring the infinite expanse of the universe, from planetary systems to atomic structure.” It also notes that “release dates and further answers will be confirmed shortly.” Check out the whole thing here.
